Apuleius' Prayer

O blessed God,
Thou who illuminates all the cities of earth with your light,
thou who nourishes all the seeds of the world with your damp heat,
giving your changing light according to the wonderings, near or far, of the sun.

By whatever name or form it is right to call upon you, I pray that you end my great labor and misery, raise my fallen hopes, and deliver me from the wretched fortune which long has pursued me.

Grant peace and rest, if so it please you, to my adversaries.
